The HIGHLANDS in Ledyard, CT is traditionally referred to as the subdivision community with two main roads running through it including Highland Drive and the main artery which is appropriately named Meeting House Lane. There are hundreds of homes in this neighborhood consisting primarily of Raised Ranches and Ranches. There are a small selection of Colonials in this neighborhood also. These homes are typically very affordable. The value range remains tight in the neighborhood therefore making the taxes very predictable.
Just outside of the subdivision at one of the entry points is a small plaza with a gas station, pizza shop, liquor store, a convenient store and also currently a beauty salon!
Within the neighborhood within walking distance is the Gallup Hill Elementary School and Ledyard High School. Ledyard has only one high school so how convenient is it to have it near your neighborhood! This makes teenage living that much more exciting as you have so many of your high school friends within walking distance to your home or at a minimum, a bike ride away!
Summers in The Highlands usually include at lease one trip to Highland Lake which has picnic area, swimming and a park for the kids to play! To reserve the pavilion, search "Facilities" on the Ledyard Parks and Rec Site.
As a former resident of The Highlands, this neighborhood is near and dear to me. Many southeastern Connecticut home owners get there start in this neighborhood! I still drive by my 1st home at 2 Whitewood Lane! That home represented so many FIRSTS and is what inspired me to get my real estate license in 2001.
What makes this such a convenient location is the proximity to the highway as a straight shot down either Route 117 or Pumpkin Hill Road will lead you to Interstate 95. The neighborhood has a short-cut road to Foxwoods Resort Casino! It is a short drive to the Navy Subbase and Coast Guard Academy. For that summer staycation, Mystic Seaport is 9 minutes away and downtown Mystic is 11 minutes away where you can experience find dining, Mystic Aquarium, historic tour at the Seaport, ice cream riverside, a movie theater and more!
Of course, if you are ever interested in selling your Highlands home, let me and my team help you transition. Our love and passion for the neighborhood is conveyed in our marketing and presentation to your new buyer.
